Home/Valuation and package sales

What a block is worth is not what the average says.

Appraisal, third-party valuation and feasibility studies, including the transactions where the addresses leave with the company that holds them.

How is IPv4 address space valued?

By the things a buyer actually pays for: the size and contiguity of the block, which registry issued it, whether it can transfer to the buyer's region, its history and current reputation, and the terms the seller attaches. A published market average describes what traded last quarter across every block size. It does not describe your block, and using it as a valuation is how holders end up disappointed or, more often, underpaid.

The five things that move the number

  • Size and contiguity. A single contiguous prefix is worth more than the same address count split across several. Larger blocks price lower per address but clear faster in size.
  • Issuing registry. Transfer rules, holding periods and recipient review differ by registry, and those differences show up in price and timeline.
  • Transferability. Whether the block can reach the buyer's region at all. Inter-registry eligibility is checked before a valuation is issued, not after a deal is agreed.
  • History. Prior abuse follows the addresses. Blocklist entries transfer with the block and a buyer prices that risk in, or walks.
  • Your terms. Restricting who may end up on the space protects you and narrows the buyer pool. That trade-off is priced, and it is your call to make.

Appraisal and third-party assessment

Some valuations exist to inform a decision. Others have to stand up to someone else: an auditor, a board, an acquirer's diligence team, a lender. Those are different documents, and we produce both.

Appraisal

A working number and the reasoning behind it, so you can decide whether to hold, lease or sell.

Third-party valuation assessment

A formal assessment intended to be read by a party other than you, prepared with that audience in mind.

Feasibility study

Where the question is not what the space is worth but whether a specific plan works, the study covers the timeline, the policy constraints and the realistic range of outcomes.

When the addresses are worth as much as the company

More internet businesses than their owners expect are in this position. The hosting operation has thin margins and a long customer list, and the address space it accumulated over fifteen years is the largest asset on the books.

Selling those separately usually costs value on both sides. The addresses leave, and the business that remains is worth less than it was. We work with business broker partners so the space, the customers and the enterprise move in one transaction with one closing, and the valuation covers all of it rather than each piece in isolation.

Prices are not published, and that is deliberate

Accuro does not publish a price list. Any firm that does is quoting an average, and an average is a statement about other people's transactions. What we will do is tell you, for your specific holding, what it is worth and why. That conversation costs nothing.

Start with the utilization assessment if you are not yet sure what is spare, or contact a consultant directly. To transact rather than value, the desk is at ipaddressbroker.net.
